Nyiragongo Volcano is a renowned active volcano in Africa and the entire world. Hiking Nyiragongo Volcano
The Nyiragongo is one of the spectacular tourist attractions in Congo, and has been open to tourists who enjoy hiking to witness the boiling lava lake. Hiking Nyiragongo takes about 5 hours, The hike takes you through the forest and lava fields with a steep gradient near the top, however it requires a lot of physical fitness.
Nyiragongo Volcano is safe for tourists to hike and one normally needs two days to hike it. The beauty of the lava lake is well noticed at night which is why an overnight stay is most recommended. There are a number of accommodation facilities at the rim of the volcano, where you can spend a night and get meals too. During the hike you will need a porter
Nine small wooden shelters are provided for accommodation on the volcano rim. Porters can be hired to carry up luggage for $12 a day ($24 for the overnight trip). The maximum weight that porters are authorized to carry is 15kg. Please make sure you bring warm clothes – it can get very cold at the top.
